The Code???

I have no idea why this came to my mind to write about today but here it goes:

A few years ago a male friend of my stopped talking to me because I "broke the code".  Apparently, hanging about with a woman instead of him was braking the "code".

I have heard of this supposed code a couple of times before. And the  few times I have heard somebody "invoke" the code I always laugh.  I even asked this former friend of mine where this supposed code was because I have never seen it.

 I have sometimes wondered if there was a meeting back in high school or sometime around then that I missed. Or maybe it has  something to do with the "He man woman haters club" that  the Our Gang Kids came up with. Anyone who had REO Speedwagon's  "Hi Infidelity" might remember that reference.

Even if this "code" exists I doubt that I would never break it. Because I would have to be more true to my own personal code. Which includes the concept of doing what I feel is best for me to do. Yes, in my past that has led me into questionable situations but it works for me.

And if I found a friend felt that the "code" was overly important to them I would not feel totally comfortable in trusting them.

To thy ownself be true  that is the code which should be most adhered to for everyone.
