*That screaming you're about to hear is probably coming from somewhere in Columbus Ohio. But what good is a sister if you can't aggravate her every once in awhile? ;}
As I am typing this I have the TV on ESPN with the sound down. The sound is off because I absolutely can not stand a female play-by-play announcer. (screaming begins) I am all for equal rights and I believe that most women can do anything a man can do. But I also believe that there are things that should only be done by a man and other things that should be done strictly as a woman.
One of the things I like about sports is that it's away to get away from women for a while. You don't have to get all touchy feely and get in touch with you feminine side. Sports is about action and testing you mettle against other guys. Man on man, who's the better man on that day. And I don't want to hear a manly voice talking to be about what's going on. I was married once, I know what I'm talking about.
I can tolerate female sideline reporters mainly because most are beautiful and only are heard from a few times during the game. Of course, if it weren't for women like Erin Andrews and Rachael Nichols I probably wouldn't like women sideline reporters at all. Deep breaths, Lynnette, deep breaths.
*Personally, I would like to see a Denver-New Orleans Super Bowl. Tim Tebow, the guy most of the "experts" hate versus Drew Brees, the guy the "experts" used to say would never be any good. Heads would explode.
* I'm getting the feeling that if the NBA players had their way there would only be five teams: the New York Knicks, the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat. Those seem to be the only places free agents want go. I remember 1980's NBA and hated it. Spread the love around, please?
*Speaking of the NBA I wish someone could explain to me how David Stern blocking the Chris Paul trade was a bad thing? I thought part of the reason for the lock out was that the small market teams wanted to have some competitive balance so that their franchises could survive. I thought that was why Mr Stern blocked it and yet all the "experts" were howling that that he did a terrible thing.
*Maybe I'm becoming a bit jaded but I am having trouble understanding the amount of outrage over Yorvit Torrealba's shoving the umpire in the Venezuelan League. When I first heard about it it figured he decked the umpire because I heard he punched him. Then I looked at the video and all I saw was a shove to the mask, and it didn't look like it was a hard shove at that. Robbie Alomar spit on an ump and was put into the Hall of Fame. Somethings just don't make sense.
Don't get me wrong touching an umpire in any way and should get a player thrown out of the game and suspended for a few games but the League suspended Torrealba for 66 games. That is too rough of a suspension if you ask me. And I have heard that MLB might suspend him too? He shouldn't be punished for something he did in another league. Sorry but that is just going overboard.
That makes about as much sense as Roger Goodell suspending Terrelle Pryor for what he did at Ohio State. And that makes no sense at all..
But what do I know??
hmm. how about if we all agree to not allow disabled people to do some stuff? I'm all for equal rights and all, and I believe the disabled should be able to do whatever they want. but you know, there should be time when the able-bodied people can get away from the disabled and all that having to feel guilty stuff. and there's some stuff we should only let the able-bodied do.
ReplyDeleteseem ridiculous? mean-spirited? read your post again, dork.
and seriously, you think it's ok for college athletes to benefit financially? you perhaps are missing the point of COLLEGE athlete - since only a few of them get to go be pro players. my beloved Tressel disappointed me greatly and it was right to fire him. But that doesn't mean the silly boys who broke the rules shouldn't bear the consequences of breaking the rules.
I forgot how much fun it is to be your sister. :-)
